Party Bus
Also known as a party ride, or luxury bus is a large motor vehicle but modified and designed to carry 10 or more people for recreational purposes. Maaha Beach Resort Party bus offers music systems, on board bar with usually lighting effects based on modern LED panels and lasers as well as specially designed, comfortable, with leather chairs and well air-conditioned.
Maaha Village/Island
Take a day’s trip on the Amanzule River through it’s estuary along the banks of Bakanta, exploring river-life activities to Maaha Island or Village with the restaurant located in the middle of the river.
Fort Apollonia
The name Apollonia was given to the area by a Portuguese explorer who sighted the place on the Feast of Saint Apollonia, 9 February. The Swedes established a trading post at Apollonia as part of the Swedish Gold Coast between 1655-1657 .In 1691, a British trading post was erected at this site, which between 1768 and 1770 was extended into a fort. After the abolition of slave trade, the fort was abandoned in 1819, but it was again occupied from 1836 onwards. The fort was transferred to the Dutch as part of a large trade of forts between Britain and the Netherlands in 1868, on which occasion it was renamed Fort Willem III, after King William III of the Netherlands. Four years later, however, on 6 April 1872, the fort was, along with the entire Dutch Gold Coast, again transferred to the United Kingdom, as per the Gold Coast treaty of 1871. The fort was restored between 1962 and 1968 and it is now a museum.
Nzulezo Stilt Village
Nzulezo overlooks the Lake Tadane, and it is entirely made up of stilts and platforms. In 2000, it was nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is a major tourist attraction in the area. The village’s name “Nzulezo” in Nzema language, means “water surface According to local legend, the village was built by a group of people from Oualata, a city of the ancient Ghana Empire and in present-day Mauritania, which came about from following a snail. The village was nominated to become a World Heritage Site for its
importance in anthropology: in addition to being one of the few ancient settlements on stilts and platforms left in the world, there is a preserved wealth of local traditions connected with the cult of the lake.Lake Tadane occurs on the banks of all religious rites, and Thursday, is a day sacred to the lake, and it is forbidden to use and work on the lake for any activity throughout the day of Thursday.
Ankasa Conservation Area & The Bamboo Cathedral
The Ankasa Conservation Area is near the border with Côte d’ivoire. The park is approximately 500 square kilometers and consists largely of tropical evergreen rainforest. The Ankasa, Nini, and Suhien Rivers all pass through the park and are known for their rapids and waterfalls. The forest has the most biological diversity of any in Ghana, with over 300 different plant species having been recorded in a single hectare of forest. Animal life includes the elephant bongo, chimpanzee, Diana monkey, and 263 species of birds. The “Big Tree (Tieghemella) is one of the tallest trees in Ankasa forest. Towering well over 20 meters, this tress offers a unique opportunity to see what good rain forest can have as tress. This species is commonly used by forest elephants to scratch their thick skin. The spectacular Bamboo Cathedral is located at Nkwanta about 8km from the Ankasa gate of the park. Though not a church building and has no human Bishop, a priest nor a creed, the site showcases nature’s perfect architectural design. The Bamboo Cathedral has become a very popular site for visitors. This offers a quiet environment for visitors.
